How Much Does It Cost to Rent a Hot Tub in Michigan?

If you've ever priced out a hot tub, you already know buying one is a long-term commitment — between the unit itself, electrical work, water care, and winterizing, you're looking at a five-figure decision before the first soak.

Renting is a different conversation. It's a flat fee, for a fixed time window, with everything handled for you. Here's what hot tub rentals actually cost in Southeast Michigan in 2026, and what to look for beyond the sticker price.

Typical hot tub rental pricing in Southeast Michigan

Most rentals in this part of the state fall into three buckets:

  • Weekend rentals — usually 3 to 4 days, perfect for a birthday, anniversary, bachelorette weekend, or just a recharge after a long week. Expect to pay $250–$325 depending on the provider, the tub model, and whether delivery is included. Tubsly's weekend package runs $289 for 4 days.
  • Week rentals — typically 7 to 8 days. These are popular for staycations, family visits, and post-surgery or wellness recovery. Expect $400–$500. Tubsly's week package is $429 for 8 days.
  • Month rentals — 30 days. These are the best per-day value and the most popular option for hot tub buyers who want to "try before they buy." Expect $700–$900. Tubsly's month package is $749.

A few rental companies advertise rates as low as $150 for a weekend, but it's worth checking what's actually included before you book. In most cases, the lower the headline rate, the more line items end up tacked on.

What's usually included vs. what's extra

Reputable rental companies in Michigan bundle most or all of the following into the base rate:

  • Delivery and pickup within a defined service radius
  • Setup, leveling, and electrical hookup to a standard outdoor outlet
  • Initial fill, water treatment, and a walkthrough of the controls
  • Sanitization chemicals for the duration of your rental

What gets added on separately at some providers — but is included with Tubsly:

  • Free delivery and pickup within 20 miles of Canton, MI
  • All chemicals and water balancing
  • No security deposit beyond your booking card on file

What's reasonable to expect as an add-on regardless of provider:

  • A privacy surround for the tub (optional aesthetic upgrade)
  • Delivery fees if you're outside the standard service radius — typically $2/mile beyond the included radius
  • Late return or damage charges if anything happens during your rental

Hidden costs people forget about

The rental fee isn't the only number that matters. A few small line items can affect the real cost:

  1. Electricity. Some, but not all, modern rental hot tubs are surprisingly efficient. Tubsly's tubs run on a standard 110V household outlet and typically add $10–$15 per month to your power bill — even running continuously. Our tubs use a "Heat Recovery Technology," which captures waste heat from the pump motor rather than using a traditional, high-draw electric heater.
  2. Water. A hot tub holds about 250 gallons. Filling it from your outdoor hose is usually under $5 of water, depending on your municipal rate.
  3. Your time. Some rental companies expect you to do more than others — moving a heavy tub into place, handling chemicals, or arranging your own pickup. Tubsly handles all of it. You sign for delivery, get the walkthrough, and use the tub.

Is renting cheaper than buying?

For occasional use? Almost always. A basic above-ground hot tub starts around $4,000 once you factor in setup. A premium model runs $8,000–$15,000+. That's before you count electricity, chemicals, covers, replacement filters, and the winterizing/de-winterizing dance most Michigan owners deal with every spring and fall.

By contrast, a weekend rental at $289 is a single, predictable charge — no maintenance, no insurance question, no concrete pad, no electrician visit.

A useful rule of thumb: if you'd use a hot tub more than fifteen weekends a year, buying may pencil out. Less than that, and renting wins on cost, convenience, and flexibility.

When does it cost the most to rent?

Never. Tubsly does not raise our pricing based on periods of demand. However, keep in mind the following lead times:

  • Valentine's Day weekend and wedding/bachelorette season (May–September) are peak windows. Booking 4–6 weeks out is wise.
  • Mid-week rentals in fall and winter tend to have the best availability and never carry surge pricing.
  • Holiday weekends book out earliest — Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and New Year's Eve in particular.

Bottom line

For most Michigan households, a weekend hot tub rental lands somewhere between $250 and $325, with weeks at $400–$500 and months at $700–$900 — all-in, delivery included if you book locally.
